Kidney Disease Lab Values

🩸 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭:
● Albumin is a protein made by your liver.
● Albumin helps keep fluid in your bloodstream so it doesn't leak into other tissues.
● It is also carries various substances throughout your body, including hormones, vitamins, and enzymes.
● Low albumin levels can indicate a problem with your liver or kidneys.
● If your albumin levels are not in the normal range, it doesn't necessarily mean you have a medical condition needing treatment. Certain drugs, including steroids, insulin, and hormones, can raise albumin levels.

🩸 𝐁𝐮𝐧 (𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧):
● Blood urea nitrogen is a medical test that measures the amount of urea nitrogen found in blood.
● A high BUN value can mean kidney injury or disease is present. ● Kidney damage can be caused by diabetes or high blood pressure that directly affects the kidneys.

🩸 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐢𝐮𝐦:
● Calcium is a mineral found in many foods. The body needs calcium to maintain strong bones and to carry out many important functions.
● Almost all calcium is stored in bones and teeth, where it supports their structure and hardness.
● Hypercalcemia is a condition in which the calcium level in your blood is above normal.
● Too much calcium in your blood can weaken your bones, create kidney stones, and interfere with how your heart and brain work.

🩸 𝐂𝐎𝟐 (𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐝𝐞):
● Carbon dioxide is a natural greenhouse gas, commonly produced by the air we exhale.
● At higher levels, CO2 affects productivity, sleep and infectious disease.

🩸 𝐂𝐡𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞:
● One of the most important of these electrically charged minerals is chloride. It works with other electrolytes, such as sodium and potassium.
● High levels of chloride may indicate: Dehydration. Kidney disease.
● Acidosis, a condition in which you have too much acid in your blood.

🩸 𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐄:
● Creatinine is a waste product that comes from the normal wear and tear on muscles of the body.
● A high serum creatinine level means that your kidneys aren't working well.
● As kidney disease progresses, the level of creatinine in the blood rises.
● Kidney Cleanse to Lower Creatinine: https://youtu.be/eERr3Ku7enM

🩸 𝐞𝐆𝐅𝐑 (𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞):
●Estimated glomerular filtration rate is the best test to measure your level of kidney function and determine your stage of kidney disease.

🩸 𝐆𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐞:
● Glucose comes from the Greek word for "sweet." It's a type of sugar you get from foods you eat, and your body uses it for energy.
● As it travels through your bloodstream to your cells, it's called blood glucose or blood sugar.
● A fasting blood sugar level less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) is normal. A fasting blood sugar level from 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) is considered prediabetes. If it's 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests, you have diabetes.

🩸 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐬:
● Phosphorus is a mineral found in your bones. Along with calcium, phosphorus is needed to build strong healthy bones, as well as, keeping other parts of your body healthy.
● Function.
The main function of phosphorus is in the formation of bones and teeth. It plays an important role in how the body uses carbohydrates and fats.
● It is also needed for the body to make protein for the growth, maintenance, and repair of cells and tissues.

🩸 𝐒𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦:
● Function.
The body uses sodium to control blood pressure and blood volume. Your body also needs sodium for your muscles and nerves to work properly.
● High level of sodium can raise your Blood Pressureone of the risk factors for kidney disease.

🩸 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦:
● Potassium is one of the most important minerals in the body.
● It helps regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions and nerve signals. What's more, a high-potassium diet may help reduce blood pressure and water retention, protect against stroke and prevent osteoporosis and kidney stones.
● People with chronic kidney disease need to limit the amount of potassium they consume because their kidneys cannot process potassium properly, causing it to build up in the blood.

Chronic kidney disease

❶ Chronic Kidney Disease (also called CKD).
● Kidney disease means your kidneys are damaged and can't filter blood the way they should. You are at greater risk for kidney disease if you have diabetes or high blood pressure.
❷ Did you know?
● In the United States the two leading causes of kidney failure, also called end stage kidney disease or ESRD, are diabetes (also called Type 2, or adult onset diabetes) and high blood pressure. ● When these two diseases are controlled by treatment, the associated kidney disease can often be prevented or slowed down.
❸ How to keep your kidneys healthy:
❹ How to Repair your kidneys:
❺ 10 Signs You May Have Kidney Disease:
● You're more tired, have less energy or are having trouble concentrating.
● You're having trouble sleeping.
● You have dry and itchy skin.
● You feel the need to urinate more often.
● You see blood in your urine.
● Your urine is foamy.
● You're experiencing persistent puffiness around your eyes.
● Your ankles and feet are swollen.
❻ What Healthy kidneys do:
● Keep a balance of water and minerals (such as sodium, potassium, and phosphorus) in your blood.
● Remove waste from your blood after digestion, muscle activity, and exposure to chemicals or medications.
● Make renin, which your body uses to help manage your blood pressure.
● Make a chemical called erythropoietin, which prompts your body to make red blood cells.
● Make an active form of vitamin D, needed for bone health and other things.
❼ Chronic Kidney Disease:
● When your kidneys don't work well for longer than 3 months, doctors call it chronic kidney disease.
● You may not have any symptoms in the early stages.

SALT & KIDNEY DISEASE

● SALT & BLOOD PRESSURE

Salt helps balance our fluid levels, helps our nerves transmit impulses, and enables our muscles (including our heart) to contract and relax. But too much salt can raise blood pressure, and high blood pressure (hypertension) is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke.

● Does salt affect creatinine levels?

High intake of salt, from the diet, can cause problems with blood pressure control and fluid retention. As your kidneys are unable to excrete urea and creatinine properly, they build up in your blood and cause symptoms such as nausea and loss of appetite.

● SODIUM & KIDNEY DISEASE

A high salt diet will alter this sodium balance, causing the kidneys to have reduced function and remove less water resulting in higher blood pressure. This puts strain on the kidneys and can lead to kidney disease.

● Alternative to SALT: https://youtu.be/AoK87ccc91g

◉ 𝐿𝒜𝐵𝒮 𝒜𝒩𝒟 𝒦𝐼𝒟𝒩𝐸𝒴 𝒟𝐼𝒮𝐸𝒜𝒮𝐸
◉ Too much 𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧 in your urine is an early sign of kidney damage. Urine Test called 𝐀𝐂𝐑.
◉ 𝐀𝐂𝐑 stands for “𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧-𝐭𝐨-𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨.”
Your urine will be tested for albumin.
Albumin is a type of protein.
◉ 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 to estimate your 𝐆𝐅𝐑.
Your blood will be tested for a waste product called 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞.
◉ 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 is a waste product that is produced continuously during normal muscle breakdown.
Healthy kidneys filter creatinine and other waste products from your blood. The filtered waste products leave your body in your urine.
◉ 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 (𝐆𝐅𝐑) is a test used to check how well the kidneys are working.
If your GFR number is low, your kidneys are not working as well as they should. The earlier kidney disease is detected, the better the chance of slowing or stopping its progression.

CREATININE AND CHOLESTEROL LEVELS

★ What is the normal cholesterol level?

● Total cholesterol levels less than 200 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) are considered desirable for adults.
● A reading between 200 and 239 mg/dL is considered borderline high and a reading of 240 mg/dL and above is considered high.
● LDL cholesterol levels should be less than 100 mg/dL.

How to lower cholesterol fast and naturally:

★ CREATININE AND CHOLESTEROL.

● Higher triglyceride levels were consistently associated with a greater risk of increased creatinine levels, and thus a decrease in kidney function.

★ What are the warning signs of high cholesterol?

● Ask about being tested for high cholesterol. You develop symptoms of heart disease, stroke, or atherosclerosis in other blood vessels, such as left-sided chest pain, pressure, or fullness; dizziness; unsteady gait; slurred speech; or pain in the lower legs.

★ Natural ways to improve your cholesterol levels.

● Focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans.
● Be mindful of fat intake.
● Eat more plant sources of protein.
● Eat fewer refined grains, such as white flour.
● Get moving.

KIDNEY DISEASE AND BLOOD PRESSURE

✔ LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE NATURALLY:
https://youtu.be/-n9_LjyT9BI
✔ What is the normal blood pressure range?
● A blood pressure reading has a top number (systolic) and bottom number (diastolic). Normal blood pressure is less than 120 over 80 (120/80).

✔ How is kidney function related to blood pressure?
● The kidneys help filter wastes and extra fluids from blood, and they use a lot of blood vessels to do so. Over time, uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause arteries around the kidneys to narrow, weaken or harden. These damaged arteries are not able to deliver enough blood to the kidney tissue.

✔ Can lowering blood pressure improve kidney function?
● Medicines that lower blood pressure can also significantly slow the progression of kidney disease. Two types of blood pressure-lowering medications, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), may be effective in slowing the progression of kidney disease.

● Eating less than 2000 mg a day of sodium is recommended. Another important nutrient to limit if you have moderate-to-advanced kidney disease (not on dialysis) is protein. Being active is important to kidney health. Some studies show kidney function improves with exercise.

Kidney Disease and ANEMIA

❌ 𝐀𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞:
When you have kidney disease, your kidneys cannot make enough EPO.
Low EPO levels cause your red blood cell count to drop and anemia to develop.
Most people with kidney disease will develop anemia.
Anemia can happen early in the course of kidney disease and grow worse as kidneys fail and can no longer make EPO.

❌ 𝐀𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬:
● Easy fatigue and loss of energy.
● Unusually rapid heart beat, particularly with exercise.
● Shortness of breath and headache, particularly with exercise.
● Difficulty concentrating.
● Dizziness.
● Pale skin.
● Leg cramps.
● Insomnia.

✅ 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧-𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝?
Yes. This type of anemia can be treated and cured.
First, your healthcare provider will determine if the anemia is being caused by a poor diet or by a more serious health problem.
Then you can be treated for both the anemia and its cause.
Iron-deficiency anemia can be treated with iron supplements taken by mouth, or by eating foods that are high in iron.

KIDNEY DISEASE & STROKE

Research indicates that in many instances, a brain can heal itself after a stroke.
A stroke is triggered when a blood vessel in the brain gets blocked or bursts.
Renal failure is a potent risk factor for stroke, which is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The risk of stroke is 5–30 times higher in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), especially on dialysis.

🍌 A daily banana is a good way of warding off strokes. 🍌
🍌 As the banana is a useful source of potassium, it can help to reduce the risk of a stroke in old age. 🍌

How can you prevent a stroke from happening?

The best way to help prevent a stroke is to:

- Eat a healthy diet
- Exercise regularly
- Avoid smoking and drinking too much alcohol
- Lower blood pressure
- Lose weight
- Treat diabetes

Healthy Gut, Healthy Kidneys!

✅ Healthy Gut, Healthy You!

𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐓 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐀 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐆𝐔𝐓?
✅ A healthy gut contains healthy bacteria and immune cells that ward off infectious agents like bacteria, viruses and fungi.
✅ A healthy gut also communicates with the brain through nerves and hormones, which helps maintain general health and well-being.

✖️ 𝐒𝐘𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐎𝐌𝐒 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐆𝐔𝐓:

● 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭.
If your stomach is frequently upset by symptoms such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain, these can be signs of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a common condition that affects the large intestines.
● 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞.
A study published in the "Journal Microbiome" found that people with chronic fatigue syndrome may have imbalances in the gut microbiome, which consists of the bacteria, microorganisms, fungi, and viruses present in the gastrointestinal tract.
● 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬.
Eating too much salt or sugar can lead to an abundance of “bad” bacteria in the gut and dysbiosis.
● 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬.
Research has found differences in the gut microbiomes of lean and obese people.
A Western-style diet high in fat and refined carbohydrates may promote intestinal bacteria that’s linked to obesity.
● 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
Research has also shown a link between an unhealthy gut and skin problems such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema.
Probiotics and prebiotics may help balance the gut and thus prevent or treat these inflammatory skin issues.
● 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬.
Another review published in July 2018 in "Frontiers in Microbiology" found that an unhealthy gut can play a complex role in allergic conditions including respiratory allergies, food allergies, and skin allergies. Thus, the gut microbiome may influence nutrition, skin, and even the lungs.
● 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.
A particular gut bacteria, called "Bacteroides fragilis", produces a protein that may trigger the onset of autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and multiple sclerosis.
● 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬.
There is a well-documented link between the gut and the brain, and the influence of the gut may also extend to your mood.
● 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬.
A review in "The Journal of Headache and Pain" found that while the link isn't totally clear, the gut-brain connection may impact migraines as well.
● 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.
Kidney Disease patients commonly experience gastrointestinal symptoms including anorexia, dyspepsia, hiccups, nausea, and vomiting.
CKD also affects gastric motility, the pancreas, and the gall bladder. Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract may result in renal injury.
