Labs and Kidney Disease - How to Read them

◉ 𝐿𝒜𝐵𝒮 𝒜𝒩𝒟 𝒦𝐼𝒟𝒩𝐸𝒴 𝒟𝐼𝒮𝐸𝒜𝒮𝐸
◉ Too much 𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧 in your urine is an early sign of kidney damage. Urine Test called 𝐀𝐂𝐑.
◉ 𝐀𝐂𝐑 stands for “𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧-𝐭𝐨-𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨.”
Your urine will be tested for albumin.
Albumin is a type of protein.
◉ 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭 to estimate your 𝐆𝐅𝐑.
Your blood will be tested for a waste product called 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞.
◉ 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 is a waste product that is produced continuously during normal muscle breakdown.
Healthy kidneys filter creatinine and other waste products from your blood. The filtered waste products leave your body in your urine.
◉ 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 (𝐆𝐅𝐑) is a test used to check how well the kidneys are working.
If your GFR number is low, your kidneys are not working as well as they should. The earlier kidney disease is detected, the better the chance of slowing or stopping its progression.
